Central Valley Pediatrics COVID-19 Information
The virus is primarily spread by prolonged close contact when respiratory droplets from an infected person pass to an uninfected person. The symptoms of the disease can include fever, cough or shortness of breath. There is no vaccine for the disease and no specific treatment besides supportive care. The best way to prevent the disease from spreading is to practice good hygiene (e.g., washing your hands and covering your cough) and social distancing (i.e., reducing the potential for close contact between people who are sick and people who are healthy).
If you become ill with a fever or cough, and have recently left an area having widespread community transmission of COVID-19 or have had prolonged close contact with a person confirmed to have COVID-19:
- Stay home and avoid contact with others.
- If you think you may need medical care, try to call ahead to the doctor’s office or an emergency room and let them know about your symptoms and travel or contact history.
- DO NOT ENTER OUR FACILITY AS AN ADULT IF YOU ARE ILL WITH COUGH OR FEVER OR DIFFICULTY BREATHING.
- DO NOT ENTER OUR FACILITY IF YOU ARE EXPOSED OR HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO KNOWN COVID-19 IN THE PAST 14 DAYS AND ONLY UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN TESTED AND CLEARED BY YOUR DOCTOR TO DO SO
- When you arrive at our office, you should call (559) 431-6600 and stay in your vehicle. We will call you and as you enter the main office doors, you and your child will be greeted by a medical assistant that will take your temperature AND your child’s temperature. You as an adult may enter if you have a temperature < 99.5. Your child may only enter with you if ,the adult, is without fever regardless of the child’s fever. As a family, you will be escorted to either a Low risk side or high risk side of our office and placed in an examination room.
- Your child will be given a Kleenex tissue and mouth should be covered during the transition to your room
- You should remain in the room with the door closed at all times during your visit
- Each room will be sterilized before each new patient enters regardless of the reason for the visit. All surfaces will be cleaned, including chairs, counter top and bed and trash cans
- Please send a well, non-exposed adult with your child and sign a consent to treat as needed note. This will be accepted with your signature
- If you need immediate medical care, call 911.
